BC CHESS CHALLENGE 2007

This tournament is only open to BC students in grade K – 12 who have qualified at a regional qualifier or based on rating/performance. (There will be a separate Kindergarten section). This tournament will be a 5 round Swiss (or round robin for small sections) TC 25 min with 5 second delay (CMA rated). The top place finisher in each grade from 1 to 12 will be eligible to compete in the Canadian Chess Challenge in Quebec City – Victoria Day weekend 2007 (May 20-21). http://chess-math.org/ccc2007

1st Place in each grade will receive a partial reimbursement from the K-12 Chess Association of BC toward travel expenses to the Canadian Chess Challenge. The Chess n Math Association (CMA) is donating gift certificates to the top three finishers in each grade. 1st place will receive $30, 2nd place will receive $20 and 3rd place will receive $10 toward a purchase at the CMA store (CMA will set up a store at the Hotel Grand Pacific on April 7th). 1st, 2nd and 3rd also receive trophies and all competitors will receive participation certificates.

The organizing committee has arranged an excellent rate for you at the Hotel Grand Pacific which is also the tournament site. Luxury 5 Star Hotel - $89/night based single or double occupancy. Children under 18 stay free in same room with accompanying adult(s). The hotel is ideally situated on the beautiful inner harbour and includes, free high speed internet, free access to health club and ozonated 25m pool and many other amenities for hotel guests. Good Luck at the BC Chess Challenge. There will be a Bughouse tournament on April 6th at 6:30 pm and an Open Chess tournament after the BC Chess Challenge (Option B April 8-9th).
